Packing Prep

Hey guys!

So we are sitting here, roughly 43 days away from take off.  I am the sort of person that over plans (I will share with you the spreadsheets, yes sheets, I have made in prepping for this) and typically over packs. So what I am going to try and do this time is make this a more compact trip. Thankfully, most of the hostels I am staying at offer washers and dryers. So I can take minimal clothing, and be able to wash what I take and purchase some detergent while I am there. So we got a little lucky on that. I know for sure I am taking a backpack to keep my MacBook in and my chargers and wallet, but I haven't decided about my other piece of luggage. I would love to not have to pay for a checked bag and have it get lost like it did back in 2022 (it was thankfully returned).

I do want to quickly touch on the "don't lose the passport" thing. I carried it with me the entire time I was in England in 2022, out of fear it would get stolen. Well, long story short, I saw the "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" play...which is fantastic if you ever get the chance to see it...and when I went to put it in my pocket, I missed and it landed on the floor. Thankfully, someone on the staff turned it in and I was able to retrieve it the next day. So for this trip, I will be trying to find a new way to keep it safer. I do have a small shoulder bag that I may take, or I could simply keep it locked in the hostel.

ANYWAY...enough about that...

As you can see, I am trying to get an idea for what all I am going to need. As excited as I have been about what I will be doing, I have been semi neglecting what it is I am going to need to take. I am going to be there for 35 days, so I figured I would listen to a very graceful friend of mine mentioned needing something along the lines of outfits for 10 days. I figured I could get away with 4 pairs of bottoms (jeans and shorts) and 5-10 shirts (t-shirts, polos, flannels, etc.). I think that should be enough to get me through 35 days.

I also think the smartest thing to do would be to buy toothpaste and a toothbrush when I am there. If you have flown at all, you know how TSA can be when it comes to toothpaste, and it needing to be a certain size or a certain amount. So buying it in London when I land, makes the most sense. I am always open to suggestions, so please feel free to comment at the bottom and let me know what you think!

I know that I made a mistake when I went in 2022 and overpacked, and if history has taught me anything about myself, it is that I will overcorrect and overcorrect in a bad way. So hardcore planning for this trip has helped me dwindle down my focus onto certain areas that I need to be fixated on one at a time. I do feel a little more prepared than I was in 2022. It helps that I have already done this trip, of course not to such an extent but I digress. There are still a couple small things that I am going to purchase before I head out, and I will cover those in a later entry.

Well, I think that is all I have for this week's update. I think the closer we get, the more frequent updates I will post.

Until next time,

Tc
