Disney

2022 was one of my biggest years of travel I have had in my life and during that summer, we had a family vacation to Disney World! It consisted of me, my daughter, my late brother and his son, my brother's then girlfriend, and my sister and her husband. We had been planning this trip for a little over a year and it was my first visit to Disney since 2005, and collectively it was the first time all three of us siblings had taken a trip with our families. It was 3 action packed days with laughs and memories that, if I were to tell you everything, I doubt there would be enough room and space on here to cover it all!

The best way to describe our family trip to Disney World would be using the trite word of "magical". All three of us siblings had been to Disney World when we were younger with our parents,  but like I mentioned above, it was our first time doing something like this as adults and we pulled it off There was no family infighting or bickering, but laughs and times of joy. The three days that we spent in Disney will always be etched in my mind until I am old and grey and forgot what my phone number is. I can recall that first day at Magic Kingdom, we got lucky enough to meet Micky and Minnie and being the overly emotional man that I am, I teared up when Kylee (my daughter) was hugging Micky and Minnie. The individual playing Micky that day saw this, drew a heart in the air and called me in for a hug. It was such a small gesture but it meant a lot to me. It was a moment I got to share with my daughter and I will never ever forget that 5 seconds.

My late brother, my baby brother, my friend...I miss him every day and he helped make this whole trip happen and helped make it special, simply by being there. From the very beginning when he suggested this trip, to the first day when he posed like this with his Micky fedora, to the second day when he and I ran and stood in awe of the Millennium Falcon, and to the final day when he was so tired he sat next to me on the tram and fell asleep on my shoulder. I will talk more about him some other time, but for now, I want to keep this light and jovial. He was so excited to be there and soak up the entire Disney experience. For me, his older brother, it was like seeing him as a little kid again, and to see him experience it all with his son made it all the more special.

I will have another blog post that is dedicated to the Star Wars portion of Hollywood Studios, so be on the lookout for that. However, I will say that for those of you who are nerdy like me, it is worth checking out. The rides that they have come out with are amazing, especially The Rise of the Resistance. They even updated Star Tours and it is much more of an experience than it was the last time I had rode it.

I am also very thankful that our grandfather was able to speak with a friend of the family and pay for us to do a character dining on our last night there. That is where I got the picture taken with Donald Duck, who happens to be my favorite Disney Character. The original characters of Micky, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, and Goofy came by (all dressed as chefs) and took pictures with all of us and the dinner itself was exquisite.

All in all guys, getting to do a lot of things with my daughter that my mom and dad got to do with us kids was something that I will always hold near and dear to my heart. Tony Stark said it best, that no amount of money can ever buy a second of time. It was a great few days with my family and looking back, those days will never be able to happen again. I am glad that we had them and I will always cherish them.
